Neglected Society Figtree and Shellharbour
The owner of Neglected Society had a clear vision for his streetwear business—one that would resonate with the youth market and reflect the pulse of street culture. With plans to expand across the Illawarra region, the design brief for his first retail store aimed to create an immersive and dynamic space that would captivate the target audience.
The design concept embraced the energy of street culture, with a bold black base providing a striking backdrop for the store’s branding, vibrant apparel, and graffiti art that adorned the walls. A custom feature wall was created to showcase the latest in sports headwear, ensuring that the store’s display elements reflected the cutting-edge, urban aesthetic the brand represents.
The layout of the store was carefully planned to encourage exploration and interaction. Customers are invited to journey through the space, engaging with various elements that enhance the shopping experience. Ceiling-mounted screens display live basketball streams from the US, creating an electric atmosphere that appeals to the sport-loving crowd. Additionally, arcade games and a dedicated space for shooting free throws offer customers a chance to refine their skills and enjoy themselves while shopping. This tactile and engaging environment fosters a unique connection between the products and the customers.
The first store, located at Figtree Grove, achieved positive sales results, leading to the opening of a second store at Stocklands Shellharbour within the same year. Both locations successfully reflected the brand’s street culture ethos while delivering an exciting shopping experience that resonates with the youth market. The store design has proven to be a key factor in Neglected Society’s success, blending street style with interactive retail, and setting the foundation for further growth.
