Hillcrest Residence

Located in Woonona this small two bedroom miner’s cottage in original condition needed some attention as the owners were expecting their fourth child. The site had loads of opportunity due to the generous size and poetical vistas across the ocean and escarpment. The clients brief was to add a master bedroom, ensuite, lounge, entertaining deck, laundry and a flexible space for visitors to stay or additional entertaining area with access to the backyard. Hillcrest Residence – Drafting Design Wollongong

The block was extremely steep with all the views at the rear so an addition off the back of the house catered for the master bedroom, lounge and entertaining deck took advantage of the block and enable all rooms magnificent views of the region. Below a lower ground floor was added to include and area for guest bed, lounge, laundry and bathroom with large doors the length of the house opening onto the yard.

The budget and time was constrained so the clients worked closely with our designer Carley and PJ Building Services using recycled windows, doors, cladding and other materials sourced from the region. From the projects concept to completion collaboration of all involved was the key to delivering a home for their growing family and welcome many visitors for years to come.
