Sussex Inlet RSL Club
Located along the picturesque river’s edge, where the township seamlessly meets the breathtaking Jervis Bay area, this RSL club serves as a central hub for both local residents and an influx of holidaymakers. During the warmer months, the club experiences a surge in visitors who come to enjoy its welcoming atmosphere, delicious meals, and engaging entertainment offerings. To elevate the club’s facilities and cater to the diverse needs of its patrons, EMVY Design was engaged to design three distinct bar areas—a main bar, a sports bar, and a function bar—each with its own unique ambiance while maintaining a cohesive design aesthetic throughout the venue.
The brief called for a complete transformation of these spaces to enhance the club’s overall experience. The goal was to create a contemporary yet inviting environment that would not only provide efficient service but also complement the club’s coastal surroundings. By designing three separate bars, the club could cater to different audiences—offering a lively and energetic atmosphere in the sports bar, a stylish and welcoming main bar, and a sophisticated function bar for private events and special occasions.
To bring this vision to life, the existing spaces were completely stripped back, providing a blank canvas for a fresh and innovative design approach. EMVY Design crafted a striking wave-like bar structure, serving as the focal point of the main bar area, inspired by the fluidity of the ocean. This design element added movement and energy, reinforcing the club’s connection to its coastal setting. Above, custom lobster trap-style pendant lighting was introduced, casting a warm and inviting glow while paying homage to the area’s rich maritime heritage.
Each of the three bars was carefully curated to reflect its purpose while maintaining a sense of unity in materials, textures, and lighting. The sports bar was designed for a dynamic and social atmosphere, incorporating sleek finishes and strategically placed screens for optimal viewing. The function bar, on the other hand, embraced a more refined aesthetic, allowing for an elegant setting suitable for special gatherings.
The result is a beautifully integrated space that enhances the club’s overall appeal, providing patrons with a variety of experiences—whether they are enjoying a casual drink, watching a game, or celebrating a milestone event in the function area
